Tod Carter, award-winning Director of Animation and Story Artist, began his 15-year career in film and animation as a graduate of the Fine Arts Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Tod has utilized his skills and talents to create and establish Chicago-based animation studios for Terra Glyph Interactive, Media Station Inc. (producers of Disney Interactive CD ROM) and Character Builders (producers of Disney direct-to-video features).

Tod’s experience in animation and story development spans the entertainment industry from commercial work and series television to direct-to-videos and feature films. Within the commercial industry, Tod has contributed direction and animation to dozens of national and local television commercials. In addition to his work for McDonalds, Warner Bros Classic Animation and other well known clients, Tod was recognized with the highly coveted Annie award for his AT&T spots and his direction of the Big Bear Foods commercial was given the prestigious Addy award.

Tod has been equally prolific in his work for major motion picture studios. His name has become well known within this genre and his list of credits continues to grow. His work for Warner Bros. includes animation for Quest For Camelot and Space Jam as well as numerous commercials featuring the Looney Tunes characters. Tod also contributed story development to Disney Television for direct to video sequels of The Little Mermaid, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan and soon to be released Fox and the Hound and the never to be released Aristocats. His animation credits include work for Dreamworks Home Video for Joseph, King of Dreams and Pocahontas 2 for Disney.

Tod was pleased to be asked to join the creative team at the Midwest’s largest production studio as Senior Story Artist for Big Idea Productions. Tod’s creative style was a key element in the concept and design of a over dozen Veggie Tales and Penguins videos. Tod was also a contributor to the story work for Jonah, A Veggie Tales Movie and was credited with Story Supervisor for a yet unreleased feature film titled, The Bob and Larry Movie. The studio utilized Tod’s talents for script writing and story consultant for numerous projects during his tenure.

Tod is currently working as an animation and story consultant for film and commercial projects. In his free time, Tod continues to work writing and producing an independent animated film for the children’s direct-to-video market and contributing illustrations and writing for multiple book projects.
